Asbestos sprayed coatings, sometimes referred to as flock or limpet were widely used from the 1950’s until the late 1970’s. The mixture contained other adhesives and resins or held together with hidden chicken wire. Predominately used as a thermal insulation, asbestos sprayed coatings were also used as fire protection to structural steelwork and concrete ceilings and hot water tanks and boilers. Classified as friable asbestos - Class (A) Asbestos Licence holder is required to handle or remove.
