Electrical meter or fuse backing boards were sold under the brand name (Zelemite). Replacing the old timber boards often found in early 1900’s buildings - Zelemite kicked off the modern Australian Standards for fire rating protection. These boards are black in color and often contained Chrysotile or Amosite asbestos known at the time for its excellent fire resistance with electrical safety. A Class (B) Asbestos Licence holder is required to handle or remove.
